iERA are back on the Scientific Miracles band wagon

You may recall members of the online atheist community (Captain Disguise, Stop1Spamming, PZ Myers and myself) set about ridiculing the iERA’s claims that the Quran contained “Scientific Miracles”, accurate information that pre-dates scientific discovery by over a millennia. Finally it seems that iERA saw the error of their ways and decided to drop that narrative. Of course, the narrative wasn’t dropped until they could think up a way of being right after all; in summary the approach is “Science is […]

Does Islam need a reformation? – iERA: Don’t hate, debate!

I recently attended a discussion in London hosted by iERA. It was entitled “Does Islam need a reformation?”  I was pleased that, as I expected, the iERA crew were very friendly with me. The whole video can be watched here. If I recall correctly, the discussion basically went like this Question about Islam Answer: Islam is already great, if we did more of it then everything would be brilliant. PS, look at how bad the non-Islamic world is (a.k.a. “The […]

What we know about Hamza Tzortzis and AshleyMadison.com

It was the 20th of August when I downloaded the hacked Ashley Madison database. It wasn’t long before I found an account that seemed to belong to Hamza Andreas Tzortzis. I contacted the email address registered against the account, sending my name + mobile number and asked the owner to call me, but received no reply. This report coincided with an announcement from the UK Charity Commision that they are investigating the iERA for its policies on invited speakers and payments to the charity’s trustees. The iERA have on numerous occasions had to distance themselves from comments made in the past by employees and even its own directors and founders. […]

The Rationaliser – A Trouble Maker

Although the term “Trouble Maker”, recently attributed to me by Hamza Tzortzis, was not meant as a compliment I cannot help but take it was one.  I certainly do take pride in causing trouble against an organisation that has members who promote sex with nine year old brides and beating one’s wife.  If these are the genuine held views of these people then they certainly should be exposed, on the other hand if this is no more than a misunderstanding […]

iERA – Has evolution been misunderstood? A response to Hamza Tzortzis

Has evolution been misunderstood? This is a response to the article “Has evolution been misunderstood” by Hamza Tzortzis of iERA. I was really hoping the document would say “By Hamza Tzortzis” beneath the title so that I could simply reply “Yes, it has. Science too!” “Over the past few decades there has been a growing discourse on science, evolution and its compatibility with Divine revelation. This discourse can be summarised in the following way: the theory of evolution has been established […]
