Quran corrects 6 scientific errors in the bible – Claim 2

This is the third post in a series where I exchange arguments about the Quran with Nadir Ahmed. The introduction can be found here.

Nadir’s arguments can be found in full here.

Blood on the bed sheet blunder of the Bible

Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, and the elders shall take the man and punish him. They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.

If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity an be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.

Deuteronomy 22:17-21

Nadir rightly goes on to list a number of ways a female hymen can be broken without having sex. So far he has put forward his argument that the Bible is incorrect, and I agree with him. So now let’s look at Nadir’s argument that The Quran corrects this misconception.

First, Nadir quotes something from Sahih Muslim. Not only is this not part of the Quran, but it also does not say anything about hymens.

The most wicked among the people in the eye of Allah on the Day of judgment is the men who goes to his wife and she comes to him, and then he divulges her secret.

Sahih Muslim: Book 16, Hadith 145

Next, Nadir does actually quote content from the Quran. Unfortunately, again, it does not say anything about hymens. It simply says that Allah could get rid of all of Muhammad’s wives and replace them with more amenable partners, being both virgins and non-virgins. It does not say anything about there being no way to tell them apart.

Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you – submitting [to Allah], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling – [ones] previously married and virgins.

Quran 66.5

In fact, the Quran doesn’t say anything anywhere about whether or not it is possible to test a female’s virginity. It does not state that the hymen test is incorrect, and therefore does not correct the error of the bible.

Conclusion

Yet again there is no correction of the Bible, let alone a miraculous correction. The Quran has corrected nothing at all.
